An annual physical is a chance to check in on your overall health, catch issues early, and set goals, so a little prep helps you cover what matters. Here is what to prepare, what to ask, and how to follow up.
Before the visit, note any symptoms or changes over the past year, however small, and any health goals you want to raise. Track your family history and any updates to it.
List your current medications and supplements, note when you last had screenings or vaccines, and write down questions so you do not forget them in the room.
Expect your doctor to check your vitals, review your history, and perhaps order routine bloodwork. Lead with your questions and goals so the visit covers what matters to you.
Take notes as the doctor talks, record the meeting (with their permission!) in myStoria, or add a quick voice note to myStoria as soon as possible afterward so that you are not relying on memory alone.
Before you leave the clinic, ask for copies of anything from the visit, like lab results, assessments, or referrals, and upload them to myStoria to keep your history complete. (If you aren't able to get copies, connect with Concierge and we can help you source them!)
After the visit, note any results, follow up on tests or referrals, and put any recommended screenings in your calendar. A clear record makes next year's visit easier. If you're in excellent health, don't be surprised if your doctor suggests skipping a year.
If your results flag something or you develop new symptoms, follow your doctor's guidance on what to do next.
myStoria keeps your history, your medications, and your questions in one place, so your physical covers the full picture and nothing gets missed. Everything stays with you between visits, so a follow-up builds on the last. And when you want to talk something through, you can schedule a video consult in advance with a member of our team, several of whom are nurses.
This page offers general information to help you prepare for and follow up on your annual physical. It is not medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment. Follow your provider's guidance on screenings and results. myStoria video consults are scheduled in advance.
