A fertility consultation is where you and your provider look at your history together and map out next steps. Coming in organized makes a short visit go further, for both partners. Here is what to prepare, what to ask, and how to follow up.

— Your appointment, start to finish

Three steps to a consultation that moves you forward

01
Before your visit

Prepare

Note how long you have been trying, your cycle pattern, and any past pregnancies, losses, or fertility care. Track any symptoms that stand out, like irregular cycles, pain, or changes you have noticed.

Gather relevant records, such as past test results, surgeries, and family history on both sides. List your current medications and supplements. If you have a partner, their health and history matter too, so bring what you can.

Bring these questions

  • Based on our history, what could be affecting our chances?
  • Which tests do you recommend first, and for whom?
  • What are our options, and how do they compare?
  • What can we both do now while we wait for results?
  • What are the next steps and the likely timeline?
02
During your visit

Make the time count

Expect your provider to review your history, ask about both partners, and outline which tests come next. Lead with your notes and questions so the visit covers what matters most to you.

Take notes as the doctor talks, record the meeting (with their permission!) in myStoria, or add a quick voice note to myStoria as soon as possible afterward so that you are not relying on memory alone.

Before you leave the clinic, ask for copies of anything from the visit, like lab results, assessments, or referrals, and upload them to myStoria to keep your history complete. (If you aren't able to get copies, connect with Concierge and we can help you source them!)

03
After your visit

Follow up

Note any tests or referrals your provider ordered and book them promptly, since some are timed to your cycle. Keep tracking your cycles so the picture is clearer at your next visit.

Once results are in, book a follow-up to talk through what they mean and agree on a plan. Bring your notes so the conversation picks up where this one left off.

How myStoria helps

Every appointment starts prepared

myStoria keeps your cycle history, past results, and questions in one private place, so your consultation starts from a clear picture and nothing gets forgotten. Everything stays with you between visits, so each step builds on the last. When you want to talk something through, you can schedule a video consult in advance with a member of our team, several of whom are nurses.
