Most sunburns heal at home, but a bad burn or one with blisters can need a closer look, so a clear account of the burn helps your doctor advise you. Here is what to prepare, what to ask, and how to follow up.
Note when the burn happened, where it is, and how much of your body it covers. Track your symptoms, like pain, blistering, swelling, or feeling unwell, and how they are changing.
Write down what you have used so far, like cool water, moisturiser, or pain relief, and how it helped. List your current medications and any that increase sun sensitivity.
Expect your doctor to look at the burn, ask about your symptoms, and advise on care. Share your notes early so the visit focuses on helping you heal.
Take notes as the doctor talks, record the meeting (with their permission!) in myStoria, or add a quick voice note to myStoria as soon as possible afterward so that you are not relying on memory alone.
Before you leave the clinic, ask for copies of anything from the visit, like lab results, assessments, or referrals, and upload them to myStoria to keep your history complete. (If you aren't able to get copies, connect with Concierge and we can help you source them!)
After the visit, follow the care advice, keep the area protected, and track how it heals. A clear record shows whether it is improving.
If you have widespread blistering, a fever, chills, confusion, dizziness, or signs of infection, seek care promptly rather than waiting.
myStoria keeps when the burn happened, your symptoms, and what you have tried in one place, so your appointment starts from a clear picture. Everything stays with you between visits, so a follow-up builds on the last. And when you want to talk something through, you can schedule a video consult in advance with a member of our team, several of whom are nurses.
