Acne is common and treatable, but the right plan depends on your skin, your history, and what you have already tried. The details you bring help your doctor choose a treatment that fits. Here is what to prepare, what to ask, and how to follow up.

— Your appointment, start to finish

Three steps to an acne visit that gets you clearer skin

01
Before your visit

Prepare

Track how long you have had breakouts, where they show up, and what kind they are, like whiteheads, deeper cysts, or redness. Note whether it flares with your cycle, stress, or certain products, and whether it is scarring.

Write down the cleansers, creams, or treatments you have tried, how long you used them, and how well they worked. List your current medications and supplements, since some can affect skin.

Bring these questions

  • What type of acne do I have, and what is driving it?
  • Which treatment should I try first, and how long until I see a change?
  • Could my products or medications be a factor?
  • How can I limit scarring?
02
During your visit

Make the time count

Expect your doctor to look at your skin, ask about your routine and triggers, and talk through treatment. Share your notes early so the visit lands on a plan that fits your routine.

Take notes as the doctor talks, record the meeting (with their permission!) in myStoria, or add a quick voice note to myStoria as soon as possible afterward so that you are not relying on memory alone.

Before you leave the clinic, ask for copies of anything from the visit, like lab results, assessments, or referrals, and upload them to myStoria to keep your history complete. (If you aren't able to get copies, connect with Concierge and we can help you source them!)

03
After your visit

Follow up

After the visit, track whether your skin responds to the plan, and note any irritation or side effects. Acne treatments often take several weeks to show a real change.

If a treatment causes a severe reaction, or your skin becomes very painful, swollen, or hot, seek care rather than waiting. Otherwise, book a follow-up with your notes and photos in hand.

How myStoria helps

Every appointment starts prepared

myStoria keeps your breakouts, triggers, and the treatments you have tried in one place, with photos over time, so your appointment starts from a clear picture rather than a single glance. It holds your history between visits, so each one builds on the last. And when you want to talk something through, you can schedule a video consult in advance with a member of our team, several of whom are nurses.
