Sweating more than usual can be down to your body's normal cooling, your hormones, or a health condition, so a clear account of when and where it happens helps your doctor find the cause. Here is what to prepare, what to ask, and how to follow up.

— Your appointment, start to finish

Three steps to a visit that gets you answers

01
Before your visit

Prepare

Track when the sweating happens, where on your body, and whether it is triggered by heat, stress, or nothing in particular. Note whether it happens at night and how much it affects your day.

Write down when it started and anything that makes it better or worse. List your current medications and supplements, since some can be a factor, and note any other symptoms like weight change or a racing heart.

Bring these questions

  • What is most likely causing my sweating?
  • Could it be linked to my hormones, medications, or another condition?
  • Do I need any tests?
  • What treatments or changes could help?
02
During your visit

Make the time count

Expect your doctor to ask about the pattern, review your medications, and consider tests to look for a cause. Lead with your notes so the visit focuses on finding an answer.

Take notes as the doctor talks, record the meeting (with their permission!) in myStoria, or add a quick voice note to myStoria as soon as possible afterward so that you are not relying on memory alone.

Before you leave the clinic, ask for copies of anything from the visit, like lab results, assessments, or referrals, and upload them to myStoria to keep your history complete. (If you aren't able to get copies, connect with Concierge and we can help you source them!)

03
After your visit

Follow up

After the visit, track when the sweating happens and whether the plan is helping, along with any results. A clear record shows whether things are improving.

If heavy sweating comes with a fever, chest pain, a racing heart, or unplanned weight loss, seek care promptly rather than waiting.

How myStoria helps

Every appointment starts prepared

myStoria keeps when the sweating happens, what triggers it, and your relevant history in one place, so your appointment starts from a clear pattern rather than a rough guess. Everything stays with you between visits, so a follow-up builds on the last. And when you want to talk something through, you can schedule a video consult in advance with a member of our team, several of whom are nurses.
