Menopause brings a wide range of changes, from hot flashes and sleep to mood and periods, and a clear record of what you are noticing helps your doctor tailor the conversation. Here is what to prepare, what to ask, and how to follow up.

— Your appointment, start to finish

Three steps to a visit that takes your symptoms seriously

01
Before your visit

Prepare

Track the symptoms you notice, like hot flashes, night sweats, sleep changes, mood shifts, or changes to your periods, and how often and how strongly they happen. Note how much they affect your daily life.

Write down when the changes started and your recent period history. List your current medications and supplements, and note any history of blood clots, breast cancer, or heart conditions in you or your family.

Bring these questions

  • Are my symptoms likely related to menopause?
  • What are my options for managing them, including hormone therapy?
  • Do I need any tests or screening?
  • How will we know if the plan is working?
02
During your visit

Make the time count

Expect your doctor to ask about your symptoms and history, discuss options, and talk through the benefits and risks for you. Lead with your notes so the visit focuses on what matters most to you.

Take notes as the doctor talks, record the meeting (with their permission!) in myStoria, or add a quick voice note to myStoria as soon as possible afterward so that you are not relying on memory alone.

Before you leave the clinic, ask for copies of anything from the visit, like lab results, assessments, or referrals, and upload them to myStoria to keep your history complete. (If you aren't able to get copies, connect with Concierge and we can help you source them!)

03
After your visit

Follow up

After the visit, keep tracking your symptoms and whether the plan is helping, along with any side effects. A clear record helps you and your doctor adjust as needed.

If you have any vaginal bleeding after your periods have stopped for a full year, see your doctor promptly, as it should always be checked.

How myStoria helps

Every appointment starts prepared

myStoria keeps your symptoms, their pattern, and your history in one private place, so your appointment starts from a clear picture rather than a single hard week. It stays with you between visits, so a follow-up builds on the last. And when you want to talk something through, you can schedule a video consult in advance with a member of our team, several of whom are nurses.
