Talking about anxiety can feel hard to start, and a little preparation makes the visit calmer and more useful. The details you bring help your doctor understand what you are living with. Here is what to prepare, what to ask, and how to follow up.
Track when the anxiety shows up, how it feels in your body and mind, and how much it affects your sleep, work, and relationships. Note anything that tends to set it off or ease it.
Write down how long this has been going on, anything you have tried, and how it helped. List your current medications and supplements, and note your caffeine, alcohol, and sleep patterns.
Expect your doctor to ask open questions about your mood, thoughts, and daily life, and to talk through options. Lead with your notes so the visit focuses on what matters most to you.
Take notes as the doctor talks, record the meeting (with their permission!) in myStoria, or add a quick voice note to myStoria as soon as possible afterward so that you are not relying on memory alone.
Before you leave the clinic, ask for copies of anything from the visit, like lab results, assessments, or referrals, and upload them to myStoria to keep your history complete. (If you aren't able to get copies, connect with Concierge and we can help you source them!)
After the visit, keep a short daily note on how you feel and how any plan is going. A clear record helps you and your doctor see what is working.
If your anxiety becomes overwhelming, or you have thoughts of harming yourself, reach out to a health professional or a crisis line right away rather than waiting for the next visit.
myStoria keeps a private record of how you feel, what sets it off, and what helps, so your appointment starts from your real experience rather than a single hard moment. It stays with you between visits, so a follow-up builds on the last. And when you want to talk something through, you can schedule a video consult in advance with a member of our team, several of whom are nurses.
This page offers general information to help you prepare for and follow up on your anxiety appointment. It is not medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment. If you are in crisis or having thoughts of harming yourself, call or text 988 in the US and Canada, or your local emergency number. myStoria video consults are scheduled in advance.
