Asthma is managed over time, so a visit built on how often you have symptoms and use your inhaler does more than one starting from a single day. A clear record helps your doctor adjust the plan. Here is what to prepare, what to ask, and how to follow up.
Track how often you have symptoms like wheezing, coughing, or breathlessness, when they happen, and how often you reach for your reliever inhaler. Note anything that sets them off, like exercise, cold air, or allergens.
Write down your current inhalers and medications, whether you use them as prescribed, and any side effects. Note any night-time symptoms or times your asthma limited your day.
Expect your doctor to ask about your symptoms and inhaler use, check your breathing and technique, and review your action plan. Lead with your notes so the visit focuses on control.
Take notes as the doctor talks, record the meeting (with their permission!) in myStoria, or add a quick voice note to myStoria as soon as possible afterward so that you are not relying on memory alone.
Before you leave the clinic, ask for copies of anything from the visit, like lab results, assessments, or referrals, and upload them to myStoria to keep your history complete. (If you aren't able to get copies, connect with Concierge and we can help you source them!)
After the visit, keep tracking your symptoms and reliever use on the plan you agreed, and note any flare-ups. A steady record shows whether your asthma is well controlled.
If your reliever is not helping, you are too breathless to speak in full sentences, or your lips look blue, treat it as an emergency and call your local emergency number.
myStoria keeps your symptoms, inhaler use, and triggers in one place, so your appointment starts from your real control over time rather than a single day. Everything stays with you between visits, so a follow-up builds on the last. And when you want to talk something through, you can schedule a video consult in advance with a member of our team, several of whom are nurses.
This page offers general information to help you prepare for and follow up on your asthma appointment. It is not medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment.
