Key details about your student health plan

Full-time Seattle undergraduates get a student plan on top of basic coverage. Know it before you need it.
UW Offers Health Insurance for International/Graduate Students Only

Enrolment

Your mandatory Services and Activities fee covers one visit per quarter (every 3 months) to Husky Health. It does NOT cover additional services like ER visits or X-Rays. For additional protection, you should check for coverage through your parents' plan, purchase private insurance, or consider enrolling in Washington State's Apple Health (Medicaid) plan.

What it covers

Husky Health accepts most private insurance, but does not accept Apple Health/Medicaid.

Opting out

International students have limited opt-out opportunities from ISHIP based on proof of comparable coverage.

Deadline

Verify your coverage now, before an emergency hits!

The health stuff no one reminds you to do

Here are 3 things every student should handle before the term gets busy:

Own your records

Get your vaccine records

Many schools want proof of immunization before you enroll. But you'll also need them to help you contextualize any symptoms, and plan for your boosters. Find them now to save future headaches:

MAINTAIN YOUR ACCESS

Move your prescriptions

Moved? It's easy to transfer prescriptions from one pharmacy to another. All you need is the name and phone number of your old pharmacy, plus the names of your medication, and they'll handle the rest.

GET PREVENTATIVE CARE

Get seasonal vaccinations

Flu shots usually arrive in late September and October, and respiratory virus activity peaks December to February. Get your shots ASAP to avoid losing crucial study days.
