Effective October 31, 2026
myStoria uses AI to organize your health records and answer your questions about them. This notice explains what our AI does, what it uses, who runs it, and how we handle its risks. It’s part of our Privacy Policy and Terms of Service, and we update it when the way our AI handles your information changes.
What our AI does
AI organizes your health records and helps you understand them. It runs throughout myStoria:
- Chat: our assistants, such as Luna, Mia, Max and Stella, and any assistants you create, answer your questions using your records. They’re AI, not people.
- Record analysis: when you upload a document, AI reads it, transcribes it, sorts it into your health profile and storyline, and writes a plain-language summary.
- Insights and summaries: AI points out patterns in your history and pulls it together into profile summaries.
- Concierge support: our Concierge Team may use AI to prepare information for you.
- Concierge calls: with your permission, an AI note-taker takes notes during video consults. Your Concierge Team member reviews and edits them before adding them to your account. Calls aren’t recorded.
AI is part of how myStoria works, so it can’t be switched off on its own (see Your choices).
What it uses
Our AI uses what you give it, our curated health knowledge base, and the general knowledge built into our AI provider’s models.
- What you upload: medical records, lab results and other documents
- What you write or say: chat messages and voice notes
- Your profile: your health history and the people in your health journey you’ve added
- Our health knowledge base: health information our team selects and maintains
It never shows you, or answers you with, another member’s information.
Where your data goes
- Sending: the parts of your record a feature needs go to our AI provider over an encrypted connection.
- Keeping: our AI provider keeps prompts and responses for up to 55 days, only to detect and prevent misuse. If its automated systems flag something, authorized staff at the provider may review it.
- Location: your myStoria data is stored in the United States. Our AI provider may store prompts temporarily in other countries.
- Analytics: our analytics provider sees which AI features you use. It gets the content of your AI conversations only if you opt in to help improve myStoria.
Training
Your health information doesn’t train our AI or our AI provider’s models.
- We don’t train AI models on member data.
- Our AI provider doesn’t use your prompts or responses to improve its products. The one exception: it may use the records it keeps for misuse checks to improve those checks.
- Our other service providers aren’t allowed to train AI on your health information.
People in the loop
AI helps you understand your information. It doesn’t make decisions about you.
- Human review: you can ask a person to review any AI answer, summary or insight in your account. Contact our Concierge Team in the app or at concierge@mystoria.com.
- No automated decisions: we don’t use AI to make decisions with legal or similarly significant effects on you, such as about coverage, care or eligibility.
- Who reads your conversations: no one, routinely. Our Concierge Team looks only when you share a conversation or ask for help with it, or if someone’s safety is at risk or we need to investigate fraud or illegal activity.
Your choices
You can’t turn AI off and keep using myStoria, because AI is how the app organizes your records. You control the rest.
- What you share: You decide what to upload or tell our AI.
- Changing that choice: Contact privacy@mystoria.com anytime.
- Corrections: Fix anything in your record in the app, or ask Concierge to.
- Deletion: Delete your account anytime in the app’s account settings or at concierge@mystoria.com. That ends AI processing of your data, and we delete it as described in our Privacy Policy.
- Improve myStoria (optional): ff unless you turn it on, and leaving it off doesn’t limit any feature. When it’s on, automated tools analyze your AI conversations for general patterns, like common topics and how accurate answers are. We also record how you use the app’s screens, set to hide text and images. You can turn it on or off anytime in the app under Profile > Privacy & Communications, or email privacy@mystoria.com.
Risks and what we do about them
AI can be wrong, and your health information is sensitive. Here’s how we handle each risk, and what you can do.
| Risk | What we do | What you can do |
|---|
| Wrong or incomplete answers | Base answers on your records and our curated knowledge base, and check accuracy with automated tools using data from members who opted in | Treat answers as information, not advice, and ask for human review |
| A document read wrong, like a date or a test value | Keep your original documents in your Records, so any summary can be checked against them | Correct it in the app or ask Concierge |
| Your health information leaving myStoria | Use our AI provider’s paid service under a data processing agreement, with encrypted connections and no model training allowed | Share only what you’re comfortable with, and delete your account anytime |
| Processing outside Canada and the US | Send only the parts of your record a feature needs, over an encrypted connection, under our AI provider’s data processing agreement. It keeps them for up to 55 days, only to check for misuse. | Check this notice for changes. |
| Our team seeing your conversations | No routine reading. Concierge looks only when you ask. An engineer may open an opted-in conversation only to fix an error. | Leave “Improve myStoria” off |
| Relying on AI instead of a clinician | Say clearly that AI isn’t medical advice, and point you to emergency and crisis lines | Talk to your healthcare provider before making decisions |
| Gaps or bias in what AI knows | Curate our knowledge base and review the feedback you send | Flag any answer that seems off |
Safety
myStoria isn’t medical advice or an emergency service. AI answers are information to discuss with your healthcare provider, not a diagnosis or treatment plan.
- In an emergency: call 911 or your local emergency number.
- In a mental health crisis: call or text 988 in the US or Canada.
- If you tell our AI you’re thinking about suicide or self-harm: it’s designed to point you to these crisis lines. It can miss things, so if you’re in crisis, call or text a crisis line directly.
