Blurred vision can come from your eyes, your glasses, or a wider health change, so a clear account of when it started and how it behaves helps your doctor find the cause. Here is what to prepare, what to ask, and how to follow up.

— Your appointment, start to finish

Three steps to a visit that gets you answers

01
Before your visit

Prepare

Track whether the blur is in one eye or both, whether it is constant or comes and goes, and when you first noticed it. Note anything with it, like headaches, eye pain, flashes, floaters, or dizziness.

Write down how long it has been going on and anything that makes it better or worse. List your current medications, whether you wear glasses or contacts, and any history of diabetes or eye conditions.

Bring these questions

  • What is most likely causing my blurred vision?
  • Do I need an eye exam or other tests?
  • Could this be linked to another condition?
  • What symptoms mean I should seek urgent eye care?
02
During your visit

Make the time count

Expect your doctor to check your vision and eyes, ask about the pattern, and refer you for an eye exam if needed. Share your notes early so the visit focuses on the right next step.

Take notes as the doctor talks, record the meeting (with their permission!) in myStoria, or add a quick voice note to myStoria as soon as possible afterward so that you are not relying on memory alone.

Before you leave the clinic, ask for copies of anything from the visit, like lab results, assessments, or referrals, and upload them to myStoria to keep your history complete. (If you aren't able to get copies, connect with Concierge and we can help you source them!)

03
After your visit

Follow up

After the visit, track when the blur happens and whether the plan or new prescription is helping, along with any results. A clear record shows whether your vision is stable or changing.

If you have sudden vision loss, a curtain or shadow across your sight, eye pain, or a sudden burst of flashes and floaters, seek urgent eye care or call your local emergency number right away.

How myStoria helps

Every appointment starts prepared

myStoria tracks when the blur happens, what comes with it, and your relevant history in one place, so your appointment starts from a clear picture rather than a single description. Everything stays with you between visits, so a follow-up builds on the last. And when you want to talk something through, you can schedule a video consult in advance with a member of our team, several of whom are nurses.
