Osteoarthritis is managed over time, so a visit built on how your joints feel day to day does more than one starting from a single moment. A clear record helps your doctor tailor the plan. Here is what to prepare, what to ask, and how to follow up.

— Your appointment, start to finish

Three steps to a visit that keeps you moving

01
Before your visit

Prepare

Track which joints are affected, when they are stiff or sore, and how it changes with rest or activity. Note how much it limits daily tasks and whether it is getting worse over time.

Write down what helps, like heat, movement, or pain relief, and how well it works. List your current medications and any other conditions that affect your activity.

Bring these questions

  • Which joints are affected, and how far has it progressed?
  • Which treatments or exercises would help most?
  • Do I need imaging or a referral to physiotherapy?
  • How can I stay active without making it worse?
02
During your visit

Make the time count

Expect your doctor to examine your joints, ask how it affects your day, and talk through movement, pain relief, and other options. Lead with your notes so the visit focuses on the plan.

Take notes as the doctor talks, record the meeting (with their permission!) in myStoria, or add a quick voice note to myStoria as soon as possible afterward so that you are not relying on memory alone.

Before you leave the clinic, ask for copies of anything from the visit, like lab results, assessments, or referrals, and upload them to myStoria to keep your history complete. (If you aren't able to get copies, connect with Concierge and we can help you source them!)

03
After your visit

Follow up

After the visit, track your pain and mobility and whether the plan is helping, and keep up any exercises you were given. A clear record shows what is working.

If a joint becomes suddenly hot, red, badly swollen, or you cannot use it, seek care rather than waiting, as this can point to something other than osteoarthritis.

How myStoria helps

Every appointment starts prepared

myStoria keeps which joints are affected, how they change, and what helps in one place, so your appointment starts from a clear pattern rather than a single day. Everything stays with you between visits, so a follow-up builds on the last. And when you want to talk something through, you can schedule a video consult in advance with a member of our team, several of whom are nurses.
