Pink eye, or conjunctivitis, can be caused by a virus, bacteria, or an allergy, and telling them apart guides the right treatment, so a clear account helps your doctor. Here is what to prepare, what to ask, and how to follow up.
Track when it started, whether one eye or both, and what you notice, like redness, itching, watering, or discharge. Note the colour of any discharge and whether your eyelids stick together.
Write down anything around the time it started, like a cold, an allergy, or contact lenses. List your current medications and note whether anyone around you has the same thing.
Expect your doctor or optometrist to look at your eyes, ask about the pattern, and advise on treatment and hygiene. Share your notes early so the visit lands on a clear plan.
Take notes as the doctor talks, record the meeting (with their permission!) in myStoria, or add a quick voice note to myStoria as soon as possible afterward so that you are not relying on memory alone.
Before you leave the clinic, ask for copies of anything from the visit, like lab results, assessments, or referrals, and upload them to myStoria to keep your history complete. (If you aren't able to get copies, connect with Concierge and we can help you source them!)
After the visit, follow the treatment and hygiene advice, and track whether the redness and discharge settle. A clear record shows whether it is clearing.
If you have eye pain, changes in your vision, sensitivity to light, or the redness gets worse, seek care promptly rather than waiting.
myStoria keeps when it started, what you notice, and what you have tried in one place, so your appointment starts from a clear picture rather than a single glance. Everything stays with you between visits, so a follow-up builds on the last. And when you want to talk something through, you can schedule a video consult in advance with a member of our team, several of whom are nurses.
This page offers general information to help you prepare for and follow up on your pink eye appointment. It is not medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment. If you have eye pain, vision changes, sensitivity to light, or worsening redness, seek care promptly. myStoria video consults are scheduled in advance.
