A rash can come from many things, and how it looks and behaves over time is a big clue. The details, and photos, you bring help your doctor narrow it down. Here is what to prepare, what to ask, and how to follow up.

— Your appointment, start to finish

Three steps to a skin rash visit that gets you answers

01
Before your visit

Prepare

Track when the rash appeared, where it started, and whether it has spread or changed. Note whether it itches, burns, or hurts, and anything with it, like fever or swelling. Photos over several days help a lot.

Write down anything new around the time it started, like foods, products, plants, or medications, and anything you have tried. List your current medications and allergies.

Bring these questions

  • What is likely causing this rash?
  • Could something I used or took have triggered it?
  • Which treatment should I try first?
  • What signs mean I should be seen sooner?
02
During your visit

Make the time count

Expect your doctor to look closely at the rash, ask about the timeline, and check for triggers. Share your notes and photos early so the visit lands on a clear plan.

Take notes as the doctor talks, record the meeting (with their permission!) in myStoria, or add a quick voice note to myStoria as soon as possible afterward so that you are not relying on memory alone.

Before you leave the clinic, ask for copies of anything from the visit, like lab results, assessments, or referrals, and upload them to myStoria to keep your history complete. (If you aren't able to get copies, connect with Concierge and we can help you source them!)

03
After your visit

Follow up

After the visit, keep tracking the rash the same way, with photos, and note whether the plan is helping or it is spreading.

If the rash spreads fast, blisters, comes with a fever, or you have swelling of the face or trouble breathing, seek urgent care. Otherwise, book a follow-up with your photos and notes.

How myStoria helps

Every appointment starts prepared

myStoria keeps your photos, when the rash appeared, and what you have tried in one place, so your appointment starts from a clear timeline rather than a single glance. It holds your history between visits, so each one builds on the last. And when you want to talk something through, you can schedule a video consult in advance with a member of our team, several of whom are nurses.
