A urinary tract infection is common and treatable, and a clear account of your symptoms helps your doctor act quickly. Here is what to prepare, what to ask, and how to follow up.
Track your symptoms and when they started, like burning, urgency, going often, or cloudy or strong-smelling urine. Note any back or side pain, fever, or chills, which can signal something more than a simple infection.
Write down whether you have had UTIs before and what helped, and anything you have tried this time. List your current medications, allergies, and any chance of pregnancy.
Expect your doctor to ask about your symptoms and possibly test your urine. Share your notes early so the visit moves quickly to treatment.
Take notes as the doctor talks, record the meeting (with their permission!) in myStoria, or add a quick voice note to myStoria as soon as possible afterward so that you are not relying on memory alone.
Before you leave the clinic, ask for copies of anything from the visit, like lab results, assessments, or referrals, and upload them to myStoria to keep your history complete. (If you aren't able to get copies, connect with Concierge and we can help you source them!)
After the visit, finish any treatment as prescribed and track whether your symptoms ease. Note if anything comes back after you finish.
If you get back or side pain, a fever, chills, nausea, or blood in your urine, seek care rather than waiting, as the infection may be spreading. Otherwise, book a follow-up if symptoms linger.
