A pregnancy confirmation visit confirms a positive test and checks in on your health and dates. However you are feeling about it, a little prep helps you get clear answers and know what comes next. Here is what to prepare, what to ask, and how to follow up.

— Your appointment, start to finish

Three steps to a clear next step

01
Before your visit

Prepare

Note the first day of your last period and when you got a positive test, since this helps estimate how far along you are. Track any symptoms, including bleeding, cramping, or nausea, and how you have been feeling overall.

List your current medications and supplements, any past pregnancies, and relevant health history. If you are unsure how you feel about the pregnancy, it is okay to say so, and to ask about all of your options.

Bring these questions

  • How far along am I, and what are my due dates?
  • Which medications or supplements should I start, stop, or continue?
  • What symptoms are normal, and which mean I should call?
  • What are my options, and how much time do I have to decide?
  • What are the next steps and appointments?
02
During your visit

Make the time count

Expect your provider to confirm the pregnancy, ask about your history and dates, and talk through what happens next. Share your notes early, and take the space to ask anything, including about options, without pressure.

Take notes as the doctor talks, record the meeting (with their permission!) in myStoria, or add a quick voice note to myStoria as soon as possible afterward so that you are not relying on memory alone.

Before you leave the clinic, ask for copies of anything from the visit, like lab results, assessments, or referrals, and upload them to myStoria to keep your history complete. (If you aren't able to get copies, connect with Concierge and we can help you source them!)

After your visit

Follow up

Note the plan you agreed on and any appointments to book, and start any supplements your provider advised. Keep tracking symptoms so anything unusual is easy to flag.

If you have heavy bleeding, severe or one-sided abdominal pain, or shoulder-tip pain, seek urgent care rather than waiting. For questions between visits, contact your provider.

How myStoria helps

Every appointment starts prepared

myStoria keeps your dates, symptoms, and questions in one private place, so your visit starts from a clear picture and nothing gets forgotten. Everything stays with you between visits, so each appointment builds on the last. When you want to talk something through, you can schedule a video consult in advance with a member of our team, several of whom are nurses.
